A Review of Fox Hills Resort Mishicot Wisconsin

This past week Tom and I took some time to enjoy a mini golf vacation at the Fox Hills Resort in Mishicot, Wisconsin. We enjoyed three days of free unlimited golf while staying two nights at the resort…a great deal!

The accommodations were nice, although a bit dated, with 45 holes and three restaurants on site for our convenience. We had lunch and dinner at the Benchwarmers Sports Bar where we soon learned that one must sit at the bar for the best service. The food was great and Tim, the bartender, made fabulous Margaritas…our favorite cooler after a warm day on the course. Word has it that his Old Fashioneds are the best!

Now that I’ve discussed my favorite topics, food and spirits, let’s move on to the golfing experience. The resort has one 18 hole championship course and three 9 hole courses (configured as one eighteen hole and one nine hole course, with the courses rotated daily) …all quite charmingly surrounded by cornfields out in the country. Tom and I haven’t played together much this summer and being a bit rusty, we opted for the 9 hole plan. We were definitely ready for Tim’s Margaritas afterward. I think we’ll save the championship course for next year (‘cause we are NOT ready!).  The remaining 27 holes were just challenging enough for us to enjoy without getting frustrated.

We found the resort to be very quiet during the middle of the week, hosting mostly couples like us, although we did see a few families.  Besides the hotel, Fox Hills has villas which are part of the RCI exchange program. A great idea for a couple’s trip!

Tom and I would highly recommend the Fox Hills Resort for golfers who do not need five star accommodations. It was a great deal which included eighty dollars in “Fox Dollars” to spend during our stay. There are also many other amenities available for your convenience. Check it out at  Fox Hills Resort

Golf Fitness Workout The Hard Way -Always Wear Good Golf Shoes

We decided to take a little break last weekend and go up to our condo in Egg Harbor Wisconsin for several days. Of course that had to include playing a little golf.

We had ever played the Alpine Golf Course which consists of four nine hole courses. The blue course’s ninth hole has been voted the most beautiful golf hole in Wisconsin by many publications.  The time had come to finally play the course.

When we checked in we asked for pull carts as it was only nine holes and we are in pretty good shape. The guy behind the counter looked at us a little strangely but we blew it off.

The first two holes, while not difficult, were very scenic and enjoyable. The next six holes were at best a cow pasture. As we approached the ninth hole we realized we were looking almost straight up. As we started up the path to the tee it quickly became obvious why the man behind the counter had a strange look. The climb was so steep that if we lost the grip on our golf carts they could be gone forever. As we were huffing and puffing there seemed to be a constant flow of fat men in carts flying by us looking at us like we were crazy. They were right.

We stopped several times to rest. After an eternity we finally reach the tee. The view was spectacular. We were on the top of a cliff overlooking a 275 yard par 4 with the bay in the background. You suddenly felt the ordeal was worth it. From the cliff you felt like you could drive the ball forever. My drive started out strong and straight but then started to drop like a rock. Becky’s looked like a sinking line drive. After a few pictures we suddenly realized we had to go back down the same way we came up. Ouch!

The moral of this story is if you every play the blue course at the Alpine Golf Course, rent a cart.
